Introducing Lonni Rossi's Big Beautiful Bugs and Scrap-bags™ Patterns

Lonni Rossi did it again! Another gorgeous collection for Andover Fabrics in NYC. I was delighted that she sent me fabrics for another collaboration using my On the Breeze Bag Pattern!

FYI - More examples of this bag are on my blog.

These fabrics will be introduced to quilt shop buyers beginning May 13th, 2011 at International Quilt Market. They will be in quilt shops sometime after that.

If you are attending International Quilt Market in Salt Lake City you can see this bag in person along with other artfully sewn items at Lonni's Schoolhouse presentation at 3:10  in room 255C.  Don't miss it if you are there.

For Retail purchases of Lonni's Fabric visit your local independent retail quilt or fabric store. Or direct online from Lonni Rossi Fabrics.

For Wholesale purchases of Lonni's Fabric call your Andover Fabrics Rep or visit Andover Fabrics online.

Finding Color Inspiration . . .

Looking for color inspiration for your next quilt or other craft project? Start with a concept board. You can collect images from magazines, or pull things together online using an electronic pin board like pinterest. Here are my Pinterest boards. Just make sure you LOVE the image. The images can have a theme or no theme. If you love the image even if you don't know why, it's probably the color.

My inspiration board - using flowers as a subject matter.  Jamie Kalvestran

Next pull colors from the board randomly and put them together into different color palettes.

Print your favorite color palette and take it shopping with you. It doesn't matter if you are shopping for your home, wardrobe, or next quilt project. If you love the colors you are sure to love the final results!

Memory Bears

One of our local funeral homes has a "memory bear" program. Anyone who has lost a loved one can bring in an article of clothing from the deceased to be made into a bear. I was invited to sew with this group last evening. It's quite a touching program and I felt honored to participate.

Here is the bear I made. The shirt was brought in by a Mother who had lost her son.
